The University of Denver Golf Club at Highlands Ranch golf professionals have more than 40 years of experience and enjoy working with golfers of all abilities to help accommodate any individual or group needs. We currently offer adult or junior individual lessons or 2-4 player group lessons.

Our current lesson rates include the following. All rates are per golfer.

30-minute lesson—junior (15 and younger) $60
30-minute lesson—adult $75
Series of four 30-minute lessons—junior $210
Series of four 30-minute lessons—adult $275

Group lessons are available for two-to-four golfers at a time.

45-minute lesson—junior (15 and younger) $50/person
45-minute lesson—adult $60/person
Series of four 45-minute lessons—junior $160/person
Series of four 45-minute lessons—adult $210/person

Playing lessons are available for individuals or groups of two or three golfers.

Playing lesson rates are available upon request.

ANDY BENSON: HEAD GOLF PROFESSIONAL, CLASS A MEMBER OF THE PGA

Andy is a Class A Member of the PGA and has been the Head Golf Professional at the University of Denver Golf Club at Highlands Ranch since 1998. Andy’s teaching experience includes numerous golf schools in Colorado, Hawaii, California and Arizona, and more than 1,000 private lessons to students of all abilities.

JAIME MACDONALD: ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONAL, CLASS A MEMBER OF THE PGA

Jaime is a Class A Member of the PGA. As an amateur, she won back-to-back North Dakota state high school championships, as well as the 1999 Colorado Pub Links Championship. She was a four-year letter winner for the University of Colorado. Jaime has been a professional since 2002 and has been involved in the teaching programs at Flatirons Golf Course, Sanctuary and the University of Denver Golf Club at Highlands Ranch. She has taught more than 10,000 golf lessons and clinics to players of all abilities.

MARK MCCARTHY: JUNIOR PROGRAM LEADER, CLASS A MEMBER OF THE PGA

Mark is a Class A Member of the PGA and has been with the University of Denver Golf Club since 2003. He enjoys promoting the game of golf to all levels and watching students make their best shots ever. He continues to be a student of the game and believes in player development through fundamental instruction along with physical and mental practices. Mark conducts the Junior Golf Programs at DUGC and is a Golf In-Schools leader, instructor with the First Tee and a high school golf coach. Mark has qualified for both the Denver and Colorado Opens, plays in Colorado PGA sectioned events and would love to play more.

AUSTIN VANNICE: ASSOCIATE PGA PROFESSIONAL

Austin is a PGA associate member in training to become certified in teaching and coaching. He is a Colorado native with extensive experience in the public and private aspects of the golf industry. He grew up as a caddie at The Roaring Fork Club, which ignited his passion for the game of golf as well as for the PGA industry. He enjoys playing Colorado PGA Section events while focusing on teaching fundamental techniques and smarter course management for all ages and abilities.

Junior Programs

Our junior development programs help 8-14 year olds experience the game of golf.

If you are interested in a more structured group lesson environment, we offer junior camps and junior clinics. Our junior golf programs are designed to accommodate players of all abilities and help develop lifelong skills.

Junior Instruction Programs

Get your junior golf “degree” at the University of Denver Golf Club at Highlands Ranch! Juniors improve their golf skills after earning an “associate,” “bachelor’s,” “master’s” and “doctorate” degrees in golf.

These camps are designed for participants with a healthy interest in golf and provide a balance of instruction that covers all skill areas with an emphasis on the fundamentals of the game, rules, etiquette and playing strategy.

Camps are open to boys and girls ages 8-13.

The “Associate Degree” is earned after your first month.
The “Bachelor’s Degree” is earned after your second month.
The “Master’s Degree” is earned after your third month.
The “Doctorate Degree” is earned after your final camp session.

Each monthly camp consists of weekly one-hour sessions held over four weeks.

April

Thursdays (9, 16, 23 & 30) from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

May

Sundays (3, 17, 24 & 31) from 2:00-3:00 p.m.

Junior Development Classes provide participants with small-group lessons while their individual needs are addressed, all with the flexibility of private lessons. Participants can register individually and be placed into groups (by age and ability), or they can register with friends to form their own group.

Classes consist of six hours of instruction, lessons and video analysis with a 4:1 participant-to-instructor ratio.

The High School Golf Club is a fun and energetic program for young golfers to develop their golf skills, mental game and work ethic through friendly competition and structured practices. Sessions will help participants prepare for tournament play and high school tryouts, and are open to both boys and girls. Each club features weekly practices and finishes with a bonus 9-hole round at the end of the series.

These clinics provide an introduction to the game, teaching kids basic concepts about golf and the fun that comes along with hitting a golf ball into the air. Instructors will cover the proper grip, set up and how to swing through the ball using full drills in a small-group, family setting.

All clinics are held for 30 minutes.

The 2020 Junior Club Championship will feature individual stroke play in two divisions: boys and girls. Competition will be broken into three age groups:

  • Ages 15 and older: 18-hole flight
  • Ages 11-14: 9-hole flight
  • Ages 10 and younger: 4-hole flight

Competition will be based on gross scores.

Players may be moved into older division, if they would like.

Dates & Tee Times

2020 Championship: July 30

  • Ages 15 and older: Tee times start at 1:30 p.m.
  • Ages 11-14: Tee times start at 3:00 p.m.
  • Ages 10 and younger: Tee times start at 4:00 p.m.

Cost & Registration

  • Ages 15 & older: $60/player
  • Ages 11-14: $45/player
  • Ages 10 and younger: $30/player

Entry fees include the round of golf, warm-up range balls, food and awards.

Adult Clinics

If you’re an adult looking to learn the game of golf, we invite you to register for our adult golf clinics and prepare for 9- or 18-hole play.

Golfers attending two clinics will receive a free bucket of range balls, while golfers attending six clinics will receive a certificate for nine holes of golf.
